You learn when you do dangerous things and take risks. You don’t even have to be all that safe about the risks you take.
Maybe you could try to be safe, but you end up taking off the edges that cut deep to teach you faster.
When we’re young, we’re also more resilient and thus can afford those greater risks.
I’ve also noticed that it’s easy to take dumb risks like a double backflip from the high dive even though you can barely swim. But that high upside business risk has you up all night sweating bullets. Crazy, right?
Do dangerous stuff and take risks. Even when it fails, you learn.
