Pulling the trigger

When you know there is no going back, can you pull the trigger? Are you willing to burn the proverbial boats?

A little while ago, I wrote about Cortes burning the boats to give his men no option but to fight and conquer. He did it for his men. They didn’t have the choice, but Cortes did. The decision he made was to pull the trigger. Do the thing that could not be undone.

One of the traps I fall into in life and business if trying to carry myself and make decisions that have multiple options. I’m a bit of a commitment-phobe (somehow I dared to get married, however.)

I’m still working out what the issue is and what makes it so hard. I have always known that it’s better to be decisive even if you’re wrong because you can then quickly decide to correct the course. If you go in all directions, you’ll always be a little right and a bunch wrong.

Do the thing. Commit. Pull the trigger. Make a choice even if there is no undoing it. Don’t waste years being afraid of outcomes. Do your work and let the results be what they may.
