On my train ride out of Philadelphia around 3am, I-and pretty much everyone in our train car-was serenaded by a half dozen girls who had obviously had far too much to drink. As I sat in my seat listening to them sing and dance and stumble up and down the aisle, I started to wonder just how many people had already broken their New Year’s resolutions. It was only 3am. Myself, I’m not much of a resolutions kind of guy. I’d rather just go and do. Steady and consistent is the way to go.
As I ponder the good things to come, I'm just hanging out keeping my cool by reading funny tweets to keep my mind occupied until my therapist gets back from her New Year’s vacation. A few of the good ones I’ve seen today are:
The sound of hundreds of sirens is a good indicator that LA is starting 2014 with tons of mistakes.

82 minutes in to my "less tweeting in 2014" resolution.

Anyway, with the new year comes another year of me being very easily distracted. Isn't that just the case with anyone who does “artistic” work though?
I went into Philadelphia to spend some time with some friends and try to get together with still other friends to ring in the new year while watching the Sugar House Casino-sponsored fireworks show from Philadelphia’s Penn’s Landing. I wandered around in the windy 25 degree weather (it felt like 15 degrees) and shot some photos of some of the festive happenings in Center City and Old City in Philly before dropping by the skating rink at Penn’s Landing and finally wandering over to the Moshulu ship/restaurant/deck/bar and watching the fireworks from the outdoor deck. That’s when something unexpected happened.
Right before midnight I was standing on the deck of the ship "Moshulu" when a young guy came up to me and said:
Guy: "Hey, it looks like you have a nice camera. I am about to propose to my girl friend at midnight when the fireworks start, would you take a few pictures for us? She doesn't know I'm about to do it."
Me: "Well the important question here is, 'Are you nervous?'"
Guy: "I'm nervous like crazy."
Me: "Haha! Ahhhh, c'mon, who could resist hair like yours? Of course she'll say yes! Let's go do it!"
She did said yes. I've named them Frank & Scarlett.
Below are a few of the photos that I shot last night. Enjoy! Have a great, productive, and happy new year. Do good stuff!
